Oyetola noted that the initiative was a strategic effort to make students embrace development in the tourism sector and make it vibrant and sustainable.

Oyetola who described culture and tourism as key areas that worth students’ devotion said its institutionalization across the nooks and crannies of the State would go a long way to achieve a vast cultural tourism potential which the youth can make use of for sustainability endeavours.

He disclosed that his government had packaged the cultural tourism club in such a way to expose students in public and private secondary schools to potential in Culture and Tourism, and to also identify talents in arts among the students. This, he noted, will encourage promotion of culture and innovations capable of making the students self sustaining and culturally inclined.

The Governor directed all schools to key in and establish clubs immediately and devote every Thursday as Cultural Day in the last two periods of their timetable.

According to him, each private and public school in the state should henceforth mandate excursion to the State Tourist Sites at least once in a session in a school calendar year.

“When all the schools establish tourism clubs, it will induce interest of the students, create jobs, reduce unemployment and make them compete in our State and a world full of opportunities and possibilities.

“Apart from this, it will promote domestic tourism through which wealth will be created through excursions with multiplier effects on entrepreneurship development.

“One thing is clear, if the schools implement the cultural tourism clubs, the increasing cases of social vices will be checked as the students will be engaged in productive activities.

BREAKING! APC Delegates Demand Adamu’s Resignation

A section of delegates of the All Progressives Congress(APC) have called on National chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Adamu announced Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the “consensus candidate” ahead of APC presidential primary on Tuesday.

But outraged NWC members dismissed the statement as “your personal opinion”.

Reacting, many said Adamu’s antics showed that he is working overzealously for “a small cabal including few shadowy but influential figures at the Presidency whose stock in trade is to drop the name of President Buhari, who is a worthy and highly principled leader, in pursuit of their nefarious agenda.”

According to them, Adamu now constitutes a “clear and present danger to continued existence of APC as a corporate entity”, capable of subverting Nigeria’s democratic processes.
“By this show of shame, Adamu has clearly shown that he is not fit to preside over APC.

It is shameful that a man rehabilitated from political penury in March by President Buhari who made him National Chairman by consensus can now be trying to destroy the same party within three months,” said Mohammed Argugu, a delegate from Sokoto State.

Another delegate, Ms. Bintu Ibrahim from Niger State, said: “I no longer have confidence in Adamu to continue as APC Chairman.”

APC’ National Vice Chairman of North-West, Dr. Salihu Lukman, condemned Adamu’s “autocratic leadership style” by making weighty public statement in the name of APC without consultation with fellow NWC members.

I HAVE ANOINTED NO ONE, THERE SHALL BE NO IMPOSITION- BUHARI

President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday afternoon cleared all doubts about where he stands on the choice of a presidential candidate for the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, declaring before the party’s 14 governors of northern states that he has “no preferred candidate,” and has “anointed no one,” and is determined to ensure that “there shall be no imposition of any candidate on the party.”

Speaking at a meeting with the Governors at the State House, Abuja, President Buhari said the party is important and its members must be respected, and made to feel they are important.

The President said he had a clear mind about what he was doing and asked the APC governors to feel the same way: “You were elected as I was. Have a clear mind as I have. God gave us the chance; we have no reason to complain. We must be ready to take pain as we take the joy. Allow the delegates to decide. The Party must participate, nobody will appoint anybody.”

Earlier in their addresses, the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Governor Simon Bako Lalong and Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of the Progressive Governors Forum, said they had come to affirm the position of the Northern Governors that the party’s candidate in the presidential election shall come from the southern part of the country.

They apologised to the President for the leakage of their signed memorandum which was not in support of any particular candidate and gave assurances to the President on their readiness to accept his leadership on the matter.

Breaking: APC Northern Govs Backs Southern Candidacy

– Governor Badaru Withdraws from race

The APC governors and political leaders from the northern states of Nigeria today in their meeting declared support for the candidate of the APC to come from the Southern States of Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement signed by the eleven governors of the All Progressives Congress in the northern states after the meeting .

The statement reads:

“APC governors and political leaders from the northern states of Nigeria today met to review the political situation and to further support our Party in providing progressive leadership amidst our national challenges.

During our discussions, we welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari’s invitation to governors and other stakeholders to contribute to the emergence of a strong presidential candidate for the APC.

After careful deliberation, we wish to state our firm conviction that after eight years in office of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2023 elections should be one of our teeming members from the southern states of Nigeria.

It is a question of honour for the APC, an obligation that is not in anyway affected by the decisions taken by another political party.

We affirm that upholding this principle is in the interest of building a stronger, more united and more progressive country.

We therefore wish to strongly recommend to President Muhammadu Buhari that the search for a successor as the APC’s presidential candidate be limited to our compatriots from the southern states.

We appeal to all aspirants from the northern states to withdraw in the national interest and allow only the aspirants from the south to proceed to the primaries.

We are delighted by the decision of our esteemed colleague, His Excellency, Governor Abubakar Badaru to contribute to this patriotic quest by withdrawing his presidential aspiration.

The APC has a duty to ensure that the 2023 elections offer a nation-building moment, reaffirming that a democratic pathway to power exists for all who value cooperation and build national platforms.

This moment calls for the most sober and inclusive approach to selecting our party’s candidate, and we call on all APC leaders to fulfil their responsibility in this regard.
