A House of Representatives aspirant for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency of Ondo State, Hon. Lekan Olotu Folorunso, FCA (OBA). has congratulated the people of Ondo State as the state marks the 50th anniversary of its creation.

Ondo State was created on February 3, 1976, following a nationwide state-creation exercise announced by the military administration of General Murtala Muhammed, and it will officially clock 50 years on February 3, 2026.

In a congratulatory message, Olotu described the golden jubilee as a moment of reflection and celebration, noting that the state has witnessed both challenges and remarkable progress over the past five decades.

“Like every other endeavour, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. The story of Ondo State is that of a land richly blessed with both human and natural resources,” he said.

“These resources have, in no small measure, contributed to the level of growth and development we enjoy today. All administrators and governors who have led the state since 1976 have, in one way or another, contributed to the steady progress we have witnessed.”

Tinubu’s Achievements and Why Nigerians Must Have Faith in His Renewed Hope Agenda

By Olalekan Olotu Oba

In 2023, the 8 million Nigerians trooped out to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; none of us was aware of the debris of challenges awaiting him in office. By May 29th, 2023, Asiwaju no doubt woke up to the reality of a woeful economy that was struggling with multiple structural issues,  from high inflation,  weak Infrastructure,  high level of insecurity, and the fraudulent subsidies that drain public funds without getting to those that really need it, the Nigerian masses.

The campaign slogan for Asiwaju was branded a “RENEWED HOPE AGENDA,” the agenda which promised bold reforms to reset Nigeria’s economic trajectory and deliver tangible improvements in citizens’ lives.

To be honest,  the Renewed Hope Agenda is a comprehensive governance blueprint designed to tackle the country’s deepest social and economic challenges and catalyse long-term transformation across key sectors-economics, Infrastructure,  education,  health, security, youth, and Sports development and governance.

Over two years into his administration, Nigeria has begun to see these reforms translate into measurable outcomes, policy milestones, institutional restructuring, and grassroots projects that are reshaping public discourse and national development priorities.

The Grassroot is enjoying the dividends of the Renewed Hope Agenda through the ward development programme and the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates initiative, which aim to decentralise development and bring real change to local communities.

The Supreme Court’s judgment on local government autonomy is also one of the achievements of this administration in returning governance to the Grassroots through local government, which the successful administration has bastardized.

In the area of economic development,  the Tinubu administration is doing well in Nigeria’s renewed economic growth trajectory after years of stagnation. The country has recorded consistent GDP growth over the past few years.

Yes, the reforms have been biting, but the results are precise to see: in the last few months, both Dangote Refinery and NNPC have consistently reduced the pump price of petroleum, which has also reduced food prices in our major markets.

Nigerians are now being honoured across the globe for the significant improvement in the quality of our international passports. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has, without doubt, changed the global community’s impression of our nation, Nigeria, by working with relevant agencies and international organisations to produce a more professional and secure Passport for the country. Our correctional services are producing graduates, the NSCDC is receiving daily training, and the fire service is saving lives and properties, all under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Renewed Hope Agenda has brought significant development across every area of governance, including Infrastructure, foreign investment, Youth development, and so on. An individual and a strong supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I urge Nigerians to continue supporting this administration for a better, more secure future for the generation yet unborn.

Renewed Hope Vision for Nigerian Youth: Key Gains from the UAE Visit

By Adetunji Isaac
Abuja,

Recently, the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, embarked on a four-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as part of ongoing efforts to deepen global partnerships for youth development in Nigeria.

This landmark visit featured engagements with senior government officials, industry leaders, technology innovators, and global stakeholders. While diplomatic visits often yield various agreements, this particular mission stands out for its strategic outcomes—focused not just on paper promises, but on actionable frameworks poised to significantly enhance human capital development for Nigerian youth.

The Minister’s first engagement was with His Excellency Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi, UAE’s Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister. Discussions centered on building partnerships in education, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and youth exchange programmes. Both parties expressed strong commitment to empowering young people through tangible, sustainable initiatives.

Hon. Olawande also met with His Excellency Omar Al Olama, UAE Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. Talks focused on creating opportunities for Nigerian youth within the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector and the rapidly growing gig economy.

Agreements from this session emphasized collaboration in artificial intelligence education, talent development, startup incubation, and knowledge exchange—key components of Nigeria’s broader goal of driving digital transformation through AI in employment, innovation, education, and governance.

One of the most impactful outcomes of the visit was the formalization of a strategic partnership with GITEX Global—one of the world’s foremost platforms for innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Under this collaboration, jointly spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Development and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), led by Dr. Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi, hundreds of Nigerian youth will have the opportunity to participate in the prestigious GITEX event scheduled for September 1–4, 2025.

Through this platform, 300 promising startups from across Nigeria will be selected to gain global visibility, access international partnerships, and receive support for scaling their innovations. The event aims to showcase the creativity and entrepreneurial potential of Nigerian youth on a global stage.

Through NiYA—the Nigerian Youth Academy launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over 7 million young Nigerians are being trained in digital skills and entrepreneurship. To date, more than 210,000 participants have been onboarded, with Green House Centres set to be launched in all 774 local government areas across the country.

As part of the GITEX partnership, the GITEX Youth Local Showcase Series – Powered by NiYA will be introduced. This initiative aims to connect young Nigerian innovators directly to global tech ecosystems, including GITEX Africa and GITEX Global.

The Minister also engaged with the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center, a major hub for youth enterprise development in the UAE. Discussions focused on joint initiatives in incubation, innovation, and youth-led enterprise development—particularly within the framework of NiYA.

Further engagements took place at Alef Education and Hub71—two global institutions renowned for driving innovation through technology.

At Alef Education, the focus was on personalized, AI-powered learning and how it can accelerate NiYA’s mission to deliver high-quality digital education. At Hub71, the Minister was inspired by the vibrant startup ecosystem and discussed collaborations around providing Nigerian youth-led startups with access to global capital, mentorship, and innovation exchange programmes.

The visit culminated in a strategic engagement with the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), a global thought leader in innovation and future readiness. During this meeting, Hon. Olawande presented Nigeria’s youth development framework, highlighting the government’s vision of a future-ready ecosystem that equips young Nigerians with critical skills in AI, robotics, and the digital economy.

Both parties agreed to explore joint initiatives that link Nigerian youth to global innovation networks and co-develop forward-thinking programmes focused on youth empowerment and leadership.

As a mark of honour, the Nigerian delegation received VIP access to Dubai’s Museum of the Future—an iconic venue typically booked out for years. Remarkably, Hon. Olawande became only the fourth Nigerian minister ever granted access. He was also presented with a limited edition torus-shaped artifact—the 37th in the series, symbolizing his age. The gesture was personally approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai.

Reflecting on the visit, the Minister said, “This visit reinforces our mission to connect Nigerian youth with the future—not as bystanders, but as architects of innovation, leadership, and global relevance.”

The Nigerian youth development blueprint under the Renewed Hope Agenda is firmly anchored in ensuring that all young Nigerians—regardless of background—have access to initiatives that drive personal growth, career advancement, and national development.

The UAE visit marks a significant milestone, and more such engagements are anticipated in the near future. With dynamic leaders like Comrade Ayodele Olawande at the helm, the Ministry of Youth Development is not only repositioned but is actively delivering on President Tinubu’s transformative agenda for Nigeria’s youth.

The gains from this visit are expected to unfold rapidly over the coming months, consolidating the progress made in the last two years and unlocking new frontiers for youth empowerment across the nation.

Mallam Shehu Dikko

By Adetunji Isaac Adelowo

Alan Mulally, a renowned business leader, once said: “Leadership is having a compelling vision, a comprehensive plan, relentless implementation, and talented people working together.”

Mallam Shehu Dikko is not just a leader—he is one with a clear vision of what he wants and how to achieve it. Beyond that, he possesses the rare ability to identify and inspire talent, assembling teams that deliver exceptional results. He is a remarkable individual whose leadership has left an indelible mark on all who have had the privilege of working with him.

As someone who has crossed paths with him, I consider it an honour to pay tribute to a man of dedication, passion, and exemplary leadership.

In the few months I have had the pleasure of working closely with him, I have witnessed first-hand his deep commitment to excellence and his unwavering support for sports development in Nigeria. His leadership style—marked by inclusivity, transparency, and accountability—has earned him widespread respect among Nigerians and stakeholders in the sports sector.

As Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko’s tenure has been defined by transformative achievements. Mallam Shehu Dikko has restored hope to the Nigerian sports community. He has inspired a renewed sense of purpose and optimism among athletes and administrators alike. His commitment to developing sports infrastructure and investing in grassroots initiatives has truly been a game-changer.

His appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a masterstroke, and his impactful performance in such a short time has clearly justified the trust placed in him by Mr. President.
